Fire at Bath flats tackled by crews

Ballance Street, Bath

Firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled a fire which involved a ground floor flat in Bath.

Fire crews from stations at Bath, Temple, Kingswood and Radstock were called to reports of a fire at the five storey building.

Once on scene, crews found a fire in a ground floor flat which was also affecting the front door of a second flat. Six firefighters in breathing apparatus fought the fire using jets and high pressure hose reels.

The fire caused extensive fire and heat damage to one flat as well as damage to the front door of a second flat. No one was injured, but a number of people were treated at the scene for the effects of minor smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.
